PMC Construction & Development Services Limited (the Company) are committed to equality of opportunity in every aspect of their activities and to recognising and finding value in the difference that individuals can bring to the workplace and to the communities that we serve.

The Company recognises that individuals and groups within society face discrimination and disadvantage. Currently these include: black and minority ethnic (BME) groups, people with disabilities, lesbians and gay men, women and older people. The Company will target these groups for positive action whilst recognising the need for equality for all.

The Company is committed to a policy of equal opportunity for everyone, regardless of race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, age, religion and/or belief, gender, marital status, sexual orientation, disability, domestic situation, illness (such as AIDS or HIV) or Trade Union Activity. All Company employees will be made aware of this policy and of their obligations. Service users, contractors, agencies and service providers will be made aware of their obligations through the Contractors Code of Conduct.

The Company has adopted the Vision for Race Equality as part of its commitment to diversity.

  • People from all ethnic groups have equal access to services and to RSL's decision making processes and that BME communities are equally satisfied with the choices available and the quality of services they receive.
  • BME communities are fairly represented at all employment levels within and across RSLs and that there is equal access to training and career development opportunities. BME employees feel equally valued, supported and respected.
  • BME communities are fairly represented on RSLs' Boards and Board Members feel equally valued, supported and respected.
  • Contractors, agencies and consultants employed by RSLs reflect the communities they work in.
  • The Company recognises that the relatively small size of the BME communities in many of the areas in which we work does not mean that there are no problems of racism or differential access to services. This policy is not about giving BME communities special treatment – it is about equal access.
  • The Managing Director and Contracts Manager are both responsible for ensuring that all employees, clients, contractors, agencies and service providers are aware of their rights and responsibilities with regard to equality. The Managing Director undertakes to deal firmly and promptly with any cases of discrimination or harassment, through the Equality & Diversity and Harassment policies.

The Company is committed to the following actions in order to fulfil this policy:

  • Delivery of the Race Code of Practice action plan.
  • Eliminate any discrimination within all its recruitment.
  • Ensure that, where possible, its workforce reflects the composition of the population it serves.
  • Keep and maintain records of ethnic/racial origin, gender and declared disability of applicants for employment and other services.
  • Ensure that employees and customers receive annual reports on the success or otherwise of this policy.
